I know you are familiar with the canker worm and how it destroys the foliage of our trees. The only thing that can be said is, it’s a pest.

Well this new species of worm is similar in some ways. You see the cranky worm has wiggled it’s way into the minds of people everywhere. They show up at the supermarket, in homes, in churches, schools, cars with the drivers and the passengers. Actually anywhere you find people.

So we ask the question–why are so many people displaying this cranky, crazy, out of control behavior?
The constant complaining about everything and everybody is daily conversation for the majority of society. What in the world is the matter?

Just for a moment, lets take a close look at the Isarelites and recall some of their actions while going through the wilderness.

God was so good to those people. Our Lord provided a pillar of fire to guide them during the night and a cloud to direct them through the day. God gave them manna from heaven for food and water from a rock. Still they were ungrateful and cranky.

Perhaps you are saying at this point, “what was wrong with those people”? They like many of us today have failed to develop a grateful heart. Gratefulness comes when you take the time recall the good someone has done for you. And you honestly and truly appreciate the kind act.

You have to wonder why with that many people someone should have come up with the idea to sit down at night and look at the pillar of fire and simply say Thank You Lord. We are grateful for this protection from the wild beast which you have provided for us. Likewise in the morning when they arose someone would look into the heavens and say Thank You Lord for the cloud that directs us by day. Instead they just complained.

I challenge you this week to do all things without complaining. By the way, worms do change into beautiful butterflies. Picture yourself flying instead of crawling, you are less likely to be destroyed.

Have a blessed day!
